Selangor Champions League Fantasy Report - Week One

Each match-week Azri Firman deep dive to find out, game by game, who did well and who didn't.

Puchong Fuerza Gamestop Vs. Bangi Jang’s Trooper: Hasrul Lives It Up

Hasrul Nurkholis was able to carry over his SCL play-off form as he continues to score a brace along with being named man-of-the-match. As a result, he is the top scoring player for matchday one. Behind the goals were his strike partner Ibrahim Suhaib, who provided the assists, scoring a total of 8 points in the process.

As for Puchong, goalscorers Hakim Zainal & Adli Zulgafli both got a goal each as they have 6 points each. However, disbelief rang through almost every manager as goalkeeper, Gabriel Sunday Aloysius is not named in the matchday squad due to visa issues. It is not known when this will be resolved.

Belia Selangor Vs. SA Klasiko: Shock & Disappointment (Part 1)

Once the final whistle blew on this match, you could figuratively hear the moans and groans of managers that have Klasiko players in their team. The likes of Shafiq Izzat, Al-Amin Abdullah & Hafizi Hamdan conceded three goals made by their own errors as they saw their points taken away while attackers like Amir Safuan & Nabilah Khan drew blanks as Klasiko fell to a 3-0 defeat.

On the other hand, a few Belia Selangor players’ performances could give some managers to think about, especially when looking to get a bargain. Man-of-the-match, Ahmad Danial had a goal and an assist that saw him pick up 12 points while Husni Idrus rewarded himself with a goal after a fine performance scoring 6 points. Goalkeeper Aidil Iskandar can also be a great option to have after pulling off a few great saves to keep Belia Selangor in this match and subsequently the clean sheet.

Cyberjaya Teleflow Vs. Kuala Selangor Batu Dua: Clean Sheets & A Missing Name

If you have defenders from either side, then good news is that there’s clean sheet points all around. Whoever has Teleflow’s Fairuz Abdul Aziz, Haziq Noh & Lucky Ogu will give managers something to be happy about. As for Batu Dua, managers should keep an eye on their defenders too, namely S. Tinagaran who put in a man-of-the-match performance as he scored 9 points along with Reegan Abraham, Steven Raj & S. Ganesan who also have clean sheets too.

The other talking point is someone who is not in the Batu Dua matchday squad. The 2nd most expensive player in this year’s fantasy, Faye Jacque, who you always see scoring goals for fun in the last two SCL editions, turned out to be injured. Oh, and let’s not forget he also had Liga M3 duties with Ultimate FC on the weekend too which could likely be the cause of the injury.

SLB Up FC Vs. Subang Protap II: Syazwan The Savior

SLB Up and fantasy managers (Whoever got him) can thank Syazwan Basil for saving them as he scored a brace, including a last-minute equalizer to save a point for SLB Up that resulted in 12 points scored. Ex-PDRM player, Fauzi Abdul Majid, the team’s chief set-piece taker, was the provider for that equalizer with a corner as ends the night with 5 points while Shukri Mohd Nor provided the other goal after coming off the bench to end with 4 points.

Protap will feel hard done by with the result, especially for one player who was involved in both of their goals. Lokman Hakim was a livewire up front for the Subang side, getting an assist and a goal that saw him score 9 points with the other goalscorer, Nor Hafiz netting 7 points.

MPKJ FC Vs. Bukit Kapar: Aiyakhaire’s Introduction

There is a reason why Aiyakhaire Daniel was the Subang M4 top scorer for MPKJ. He carried over his goalscoring form scoring two goals that saw him earning an overall 12 points, though he did pick up a yellow card. He didn’t start, but S. Thibanraj became the 2nd top points scorer with 11 points, following a goal and an assist. However, Faizal Fauzi’s sending off was a blight in MPKJ’s victory and he is set to miss the next match.

Whoever has Bukit Kapar players, sadly, your faith in them wasn’t repaid despite playing one-route football with some neat one-touch passing that kept MPKJ on their toes.

Gombak RRM Vs. SA PIB FC: A Matter Of Time

A horror backpass gifted Nur Affandi a goal as he is the only player in RRM to get a return of more than 2 points, scoring 7 points in the process.

As for PIB, their hard work paid off when Mamadou Berete got PIB’s equalizer and scored 6 points while full-back Muszaki Abu Bakar provided the assist and ended the match with 4 points. But there is one player who was heavily involved in PIB’s attacks and perhaps was a little unlucky not to get a return. Shahrul Amin was tenacious and his bright performance earned him the man-of-the-match. Keep an eye on this winger and be patient with him as performances like this will surely be rewarded one day.

NPNG Damansara Damai Vs. MBSA FC: Shock & Disappointment (Part 2)

For managers who had competed in last year’s fantasy, you would expect to NPNG to pick up where they left off. Except, they haven’t. Despite dominating proceedings, nothing comes afterward as the likes of Lukhman Noor Hakim, P. Surain & Patrick Asare all drew blanks.

Perhaps we may have seen why they were Liga Super FAS semi-finalists. MBSA weathered the NPNG storm for the entire match and scored two brutal sucker punches in the process with Azfar Hamzah & substitute Ahmad Hafiz scoring the goals and also scoring 6 & 5 points respectively. Goalkeeper Lutfil Hadi helped MBSA to stay in the match and earned not only a clean sheet, but the man-of-the-match too, getting 9 points.
