IT’S A STRANGE THING | #KaranganBolaSepak by Qusyairi

It's not easy to express when one is devoted entirely. It’s not easy to tell when one has to translate so much passion into words. Sometimes it doesn't make sense. Words are only meant to trigger the mind of one’s visual conduct. Yet, here it is, one that wants to communicate a perception of what truly love can be.

Football is pretty general. Everyone would know of its existence, some incorporate it in their lives, some don't. Nevertheless, the word to describe it would be SEXY. It’s definitely sexy.

One of the first encounters was a 2006 Aston Villa team consisting of players like Gareth Barry, John Carew, Stiliyan Petrov, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Olof Melberg and other household names in the English Football League. The commentary of the match against West Ham was as attractive as the play. It was a visual pleasure, where one can imagine a football match can be sort of ‘delicious’ I would say. It was truly satisfying. From the first minute to the 90th, I enjoyed it in a wholesome way. IT’S STRANGELY SEXY!

Football has brought me to different grounds and experiences that I have never thought I could have. Learning about different cultures of a place and the community that revolves around it. It is undeniably a connection that one can never replace. Through football, one can witness 250,000 or more people in a single area sharing the same energy. It will always give me goosebumps every time I step into a stadium. I am fortunate enough to be a part of the world community that enjoys this sport. As a fan and as an enthusiast.

By nature, I deal with a lot of art and football can be a similar thing. Paintings by Picasso or Hockney, Rembrandt or Van Gogh require precision and brutal aspects of observing , understanding and translating. I find football fields to be exact as a blank canvas. Hence, looking at paintings can be intriguing as it is sexy too. Learning the possibilities of passes to attack is one thing, but defending is also a part of it. Tactically it’s pretty much the basics of what football can be but it can also be offensive?, defensive?, tempo adjusting?, long & diagonal balls?, short triangles in the middle of the field?, a striker that doesn't score goals but has his/her duty?, arrangement of positions?, arrangement of ball movements? It does make me go crazy thinking about it.

Yet somehow it PAINTS the perfect picture above all. SO IT’S DEFINITELY SEXY!

Football is so sexy that I have to consume every inch of it daily. Whether it's watching highlights, reading about it, playing it on a console, imagining the kind of passing I would do in the middle of the park and eventually playing it on a field. Football is something that I hold on to dearly. It’s everything that it needs to be. It gives joy, pleasure, a change of mindset, creativity, fulfillment, team spirit and of course, more possibilities.
