Meeting Mister Gérard Houllier | #KaranganBolaSepak by Adik Villa
Mister Gérard Paul Francis Houllier passed away back on 14 December 2020 and I think since his last coaching tenure with Aston Villa back in the 2010-2011 season all of us can see that he wasn’t in the best condition with regards to his health. Even was admitted to the hospital back in April 2011. Gary McAllister took charge for the remainder of the season. Then he stepped down as manager as a result of his health condition. A condition that he has been a challenge for him throughout his life.
However, despite this health condition he succeeded a lot with his life on and off the field. Off the field I have had the pleasure of meeting him quickly at an airport many years ago. He was a kind and warm person to speak with be it very brief. I was stunned and my only regret was not having a camera on me to snap the moment. But having spoke with him for a bit was a gift of itself. I felt his warmness of a person. And could understand why so many greats in the footballing world revered him as a person. Not only a football manager.
As an Aston Villa supporter - I really wished that he could have done something magical. Looking back. I do wonder if his health was in the way of the work. One could wonder.
So. Everyone please take this as a lesson to take care of your health well in many ways. And remember to spend as much time with your family as best as you can. Life is great when we build careers. What is it worth without having our family there for us during triumphs and highs.
Rest in power Mister Gérard Paul Francis Houllier. And extended condolences to his family.
