After almost two months and eight matchdays of football, the FAS Women’s Super League (WSL) finally came to a close as MBSJ and UPNM faced each other in the final to become WSL champions at the MBPJ Stadium last Sunday in conjunction with Hari Bolasepak Selangor.

Both teams needed to go through penalties after their matches ended in the same 0-0 scoreline with MBSJ overcoming Kelana United 8-7 and UPNM beating FC Spicegals 4-3. For MBSJ however, they headed into the final without midfielder Siti Asnidah Zamri who is suspended after picking up a second yellow card just before full-time.

Before the WSL final, there was an array of activities surrounding the MBPJ Stadium in conjunction with Hari Bolasepak Selangor to celebrate all things football in the state. Some of the activities included competitions such as 5v5 Beach Soccer Penalty Shootout, Keep it Street 3v3 and FIFA 23 Virtual Squad where participants won prize money as well as a football exhibition and clinic.

“Hari Bolasepak Selangor is a celebration of all things football around the state and also a way to repay the faith shown by the footballing community, especially after a challenging past three years. So I’m happy we are able to organize this event once again and I hope many people will come and take part in this fun-filled event of activities we have planned,” said Izrin Nabil, the FAS Secretary General.
