Recently, I was able to finally test the PUMA One 18.1 during an indoor soccer session. Thank you to a friend of mine who was so kind to let me borrow his pair, thankfully it was the same size, 8UK! This version of the PUMA One 18.1 has a kangaroo leather forefoot.
The construction of the boot features a lightweight synthetic heel and a mid foot built, the forefoot as mentioned features a kangaroo leather for a soft and plush touch on the ball. So your football breaking it in will be with ease. The fit of the boots uses the same evoKNIT technology that is one of the best in the market. Comfort galore.
From the advertising and how the boot was build this is a speed boot like Nike's mercurial vapors, and Adidas's X. From that when running with the boots you can feel the lock down in the mid foot after a tight lace tie. With a wide feet such as mine, it just barely snugged it. I do have a minor issue with the bottom of the heel, as I could use a bit more lock down.
The touch I found offered a close and controlled touch on the ball for passing and receiving. Shooting the ball was nice but not as netted like my PUMA Future 18.1. Maybe it was my first try in the boot. A driver needs to understand the car after multiple trials.
The studs configuration. As a person who plays a lot on artificial grass, using this pair of Firm Ground stud configuration. I believe it would have performed better on natural or firmer surface. As using a bladed shaped studs compared to conical shaped studs, you can feel the aftereffect on your joints after playing quite noticeably. Hence always learn and understand studs configuration.
Overall, it was comfortable from the start, had a good, controlled touch on the ball. However between this and the PUMA Future 18.1 I preferably will opt for the Future. Don't let my preference derail you pick on the PUMA One 18.1, priced at RM879 if I am not mistaken, maybe you'll have a better experience than me who is a slightly undesirable body fat content, haha aha.
