Through The Eyes: Liga Gila Edition One Round 1

I arrived at UM Park around 7 p.m. I would’ve been there earlier had I not misjudged the time. When I arrived, I saw Khal and other familiar faces preparing to take the field. I took the time to survey the scene.

The stage is set. The lights were on, the wet artificial pitch was ready to be played on and the players & match officials had arrived. The coaches of the respective teams lead the team talk and also oversee the warm-up to make sure no injury mishap happens. And of couse the banter between teams that adds more excitement and humour. Liga Gila round one of edition one was set to commence.

To quote New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Tetsuya Naito: “Tranquilo. Assen na yo”. It means ‘Relax. Take It Easy,’. If there’s one quote to describe the concept of this league, this is it.

In each half, everyone tried to take their time with the ball and do something about it. Granted, there were a few player who had a slight off day, but hey: As long as they enjoy the game, it should be fine.

The amazing thing about this round is that each team actually dominated one half. In the first half, it was the Titans (Lead by Izham) over The Ducks (Lead by Shah Bahari). Tune Squad (Lead by Ejat) over The Titans in the second and The Ducks over Tune Squad in the final half.

Although I’ll admit, I’m a little disappointed that there were a lack of goals. But that is mainly because the goalkeepers were up on top of their game, except for that one moment of madness when the Titans keeper spilled a shot and conceded against Tune Squad.

While there were not many goals, all that matters is that everyone had fun playing that good game of football. I think this is just the beginning of something a lot more exciting. Here’s to more.
