Through The Eyes: Liga Gila Edition Two: Session One

IMG_4591.jpg

Ah, thank goodness Liga Gila back. It’s bigger than ever before and for various reasons. Firstly, the timing is extended as it ends at 11 given that instead of teams facing each other once, they will do it twice. The teams also saw their roster expanded. After all, the more the merrier.

However, because there were so many matches, I couldn’t keep a full track what exactly happened. But there are so many notable highlights and will do my best to explain.

The highlight that struck me the most was the second match between Toy Story & Monsters Inc. The latter won a free kick in a dangerous position. Their dangerous winger Solihim took it and slammed the ball into the net with a knuckleball. Goodness, what a free-kick that was.

Then there was the first match between Toy Story and The Incredibles where one of Toy Story’s players was at the far post with an open goal in sight. They somehow miskicked and the ball went wide. What followed was a gem of an assist, a lightning run and a great finish by The Incredibles. One of their players by the halfway line dinked the ball into the path of a Mr. Danial Abrar, who ran down the right flank. He then entered the box, beat a defender and tucked it into the near post for the only goal between these two at that fixture.

The Incredibles also seem to be secure with their two goalkeepers. First, Henry made a good save in a one-on-one situation to deny Toy Story a goal in their second round. In the final match of the night, Rauf palmed away a stinging strike that was destined to go in to prevent Monsters Inc. from extending their lead.

Some other highlights include a goal in the top corner by Toy Story and Haikal (I think) scoring from the edge of the box for The Incredibles’ equalizer against Toy Story in their second match

There was one other thing that happened on the touchline. And that is Monsters Inc.’s Jepar’s karaoke session with his teammates. They kept singing and clapping to keep the mood up and I contributed somewhat playing the mini-kompang Khal bought to keep the rhythm of Jepar’s tunes going.

There was a lot going on in these matches, but remember: What matters most is that these people have fun playing football. Also, lesson learned: I need to write things down to keep track on what exactly happened in this matches so I can write a much more solid article. See you all next week!

Also, here's the pictures from that game night:
