Ramadan + Football

First of all, happy Ramadan to everyone observing! Before you know it, Eid is just around the corner.

Despite the fasting month, the Malaysian football league continues. Which is a commendable decision from my point of view. As 2018 is already a pack year, especially with the AFF Cup toward the last quarter of the year. Definitely would not want the league to end late, which would delay other areas in the domestic league like the Malaysia Cup. From a technical standpoint, league must go on. Even when the league takes a break during Ramadan, teams still organise friendlies. So better have the league run.

How to attract the fans to go to the stadium? With the late kick off and other factors. This is where the each football club should put in the effort, as this can be an opportunity to tighten the bond between the football club and the fans. Why not organise an official football club iftar with the fans and the community, and then teraweeh? Or have a bazaar outside the venue. There’s numerous ideas. Same goes to the fans, propose ideas to the football club that you want this, so that the football team will play in good spirits by the 10pm kick off.

Footballers, professional or social, observing Ramadan. This is an opportunity to finally put your respective mentality to the test. Research, learn about the training, diets and etc that already been proven by the professionals abroad. Put them to practice if you want to test yourself to an optimum point. However, be advise don’t push yourself too extreme, always be under a supervision of a licensed physician.

All in all, Ramadan is an excellent opportunity to grow as a person, physically, mentally, and emotionally. It is up to you if you want to make an excuse or not.
