Just A Few Things: JDT Vs. Selangor

To be fair to Selangor, they actually did well to hold off Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) for almost the entire first half. There wasn’t a decisive chance by the home side until just before half-time. The thing is, there was a strong air of controversy surrounding the first two goals (And we’ll go into that next). But when the third goal was lashed in by Diogo Luis Santo, that’s when everything fell apart.

Just A Few Things FC Seoul Vs. Suwon Samsung Bluewings

Ex-Bluewings utility player Park Kun-ha, who only has little managerial experience, was thrust into a big match immediately with the Super Match as his first game in charge of the Bluewings as he tries to steer the team away from the relegation zone. The match graphic showed Kun-ha went for a 3-4-3 formation, but in out of possession, the Bluewings fell back to a 5-4-1 formation with a standard defensive line.

Just A Few Things - FELDA United Vs. Kedah

Yep. It’s that old tale of two halves. The first 45 minutes were very labored and it needed something to make it alive. The way both sides are set up is definitely a factor to why the match has not been eventful (Which we’ll go into later). Kedah definitely had most of the ball but failed to trouble that FELDA backline enough while Felda looked content to try and attack on the break, but they do have one problem which again, we’ll go into later. Eventually, we finally did see the first highlight when FELDA took the lead just before half-time.

Just A Few Things - Terengganu Vs. JDT

Terengganu’s defeat at Melaka last week made things more difficult for the Turtles to maintain a title challenge. Now, it’s surely all but over. A seventh league title in a row beckons for the Southern Tigers after a slim 1-0 win and in doing so, opened up an eight point-gap over 2nd place occupied by Perak after their 1-0 win over UiTM while Terengganu drops down the table. They can seal the title with a win over FA Selangor next week who is set to miss Brendan Gan due to suspension and also are greatly struggling to impose themselves should results elsewhere favor them starting with Kedah’s match with FELDA tomorrow.

Just A Few Things: JDT Vs. Perak

It looks like Mehmet Durakovic had to tweak his starting line-up due to missing livewires Careca & J. Partiban due to hamstring injuries according to Star reporter T. Avineshwaran. Instead of going with his usual 4-4-2 formation with two forwards, Durakovic opted to go for an attacking midfielder in Firdaus Saiyadi to support Guilherme De Paula. In a way, it’s a 4-2-3-1 but it was also a 4-4-2 with Firdaus seen beside Guilherme when out of possession.

Just A Few Things - Ulsan Hyundai Vs. FC Seoul

When news broke out that Ki Sung-yueng would be in Seoul’s matchday squad, the buildup to this match was focused towards the ‘Double Dragons’ consisting of Ki & Lee Chung-yong as the name ‘Yong/Yeung’ means ‘dragon’. Both of these players were an influential pair when they started out in FC Seoul so there was a lot of intrigue between these players now standing in opposing sides. Despite that fact, a picture was taken of the two just chilling out on the bench with smiles on their faces as they reconnect before the match.

Just A Few Things Gwangju FC Vs. FC Seoul

Currently under poor form, Gwangju looked anything but that against an FC Seoul side looking to continue their resurgence. Gwangju had plenty of positive energy in theri attack as they took on defenders looking to get further inside on Seoul’s final third. They mostly attack down on the right to get their tenacious winger Eom Won-sang more involved. Even Felipe dropped deep a little bit to help build up the attacks and took on a few defenders on his own.

Just A Few Things - Daegu FC Vs. Incheon United

Finally after 15 attempts, Incheon finally got their first victory of the season, their first win in the league since a 2-0 win over Sangju Sangmu last November. They had to dig really deep to keep hold of their precarious one-goal lead thanks to Stefan Mugosa’s first-time strike on 30 minutes. Incheon had possession early on in the match, but afterwards they had to be in their box to defend whatever Daegu had to offer. There wasn’t a distinct disciplined defensive shape deployed as it was mostly all hands on-deck mode when they went back defending. The defenders showed excellent bravery in getting their bodies in the way of Daegu’s shots as they kept on sliding in front of them

Just A Few Things: Ulsan Hyundai Vs. Pohang Steelers

You would expect the usual suspects to start for the Horangi with Junior Negrao leading the frontline and Yoon Bit-garam being the creative spark in midfield given how high the profile of this match is. But head coach Kim Do-hoon perhaps surprised everyone with the line-up he put out with Norweigian striker Bjorn Johnsen & Koh Myong-jin preferred over Junior & Bit-garam respectively as they are two out of five changes made to the side.

Just A Few Things Busan IPark Vs. FC Seoul

Once he gets going, he really gets going. Being one of the heroes of Busan IPark’s entertaining 4-2 victory at Gangwon FC last week, Lee Dong-Jun emerged as a hero again and is now in hot form after helping Busan to a 2-0 win over a hapless FC Seoul side for the Royals first (and maybe overdue) victory at home as it also buried the demons of Busan’s defeat in the promotion-relegation playoffs two years ago against the very same side.
