Through The Eyes: Liga Gila Edition Two (Session Four)

I sighed as I realized back then it was the last night of Liga Gila until in about two months time. I know I said this before, but seriously: Has time really flew by that fast? Man, I’m gonna miss the fun that I see on the field. On the bright side, at least there’s pizza to be chowed down during each final session of Liga Gila. Anyway…

As soon as I arrived, Haqeem told me that I would be match commissioner again, in which I didn’t mind, but then I wondered where was Hussein. Turns out he’ll be playing for The Incredibles and slotted in midfield. But as soon as the first whistle blew, Hussein literally collided with the ref for some reason and both hit the floor. What made this banter of a scuffle a lot funnier was that the ref inflicted payback and deliberately foul Hussein only about two minutes later. Luckily Hussein didn’t have the ball when he went down.

Strangely enough, the first half of matches saw three goalless draws in a row. Yep, 0-0 three times in a row. The ref & Hussein bundling over was the highlight in the first match, Toy Story’s Zulfo attempted an acrobatic effort that The Incredibles’ Henry did well to stop in the second match and Monsters Inc.’s Ellie became the goalkeeper much to the cheers of almost everyone in the third match (And that’s not the most notable thing that she has done on the night).

Finally, we saw a goal in the fourth match thanks to The Incredibles’ Danial Abrar who dinked the ball over the keeper after a defence-splitting pass. Not long after though, we see the second penalty ever given in Liga Gila history. The players by the touchline wanted Ellie to take the penalty and she was given the chance. Despite Ejat guessing the right way, Ellie’s shot had enough power to take it out of the keeper’s reach. Ellie now has the distinction of scoring the first ever penalty in Liga Gila history, after her teammate Pipi missed his own penalty last week.

Another person in the spotlight was The Incredibles’ Jerol. First, he hit the bar in the first match despite having so much to work with time and space in the box by placing too much height on his effort. Thankfully he got a goal and an assist in the fifth match. It was another defence-splitting pass that lead to Jerol to score the equalizer to cancel out Zulfo’s great shot from a tight angle. Jerol then became involved in a neat 1-2 exchange with Danial Abrar, in which Danial provided the end product to score his second of the night. Although it seems Jerol’s shirt confused Toy Story as Jerol’s shirt has white & blue (The Incredible’s main shirt colour) and Toy Story’s shirt colour of the night was white. So it looks like the defence was misled a bit there.

The last goal scored for this edition belonged to Monsters Inc.’s Solihim who of course ran down the left flank and scored from the tightest of angles. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but I think he scored at least once in each week for this edition (I can’t remember the details of the first week, but I know Solihim scored in the last two sessions).

And that concludes this edition of Liga Gila. Well, the final week didn’t set off the fireworks I was hoping for. But hey, remember this: As long as everyone has fun, it’s Ok. May we see each other again!
