I think it is time to shift gears from the plight of professional football to the plight of grassroots football. This write up will be covering as many points as possible. The timeline from the lead-up, the active impacts, and the potential worries. Moreover beyond the timeline is with the societal, physical, and mental health, economics, educational, governance, philosophical, side of things.
Read MoreIn May 2006, Juventus were relegated to Serie B, as part of the five clubs that were linked to Calciopoli, a match fixing scandal that has rocked Italian football. Back then, all hopes and dreams just perished in front of my eyes. Rubbing salt in what was already an injured wound, saw many great Juventus players decide to leave the squad in the following season.

Coming from a smaller city, Ipoh it was my first experience being able to watch the big game in our national stadium.

I did not have the privilege to know all of the top English clubs when I was young, and only really knew of the big sides and big name players until that point.
Read MoreIt would cost me an infinite quantity of words and that too, won’t be enough for me to write everything about goalkeepers and being a custodian. What can I do? This goalkeeping thing is the only thing that I am capable to do, and I just simply love the fact about it. Even in social football, original goalkeepers don’t play themselves a goalie. They prefer to play up front, but that doesn’t work for me. Everywhere I go, it is a goalkeeper for me. As if it is a voluntary work rather than being forced. And of course I am aware of the pressure when you try to keep the ball out from entering your goal. It deeply hurts when every time a team concedes, spectators will question – as Petr Cech had said – “If a team concedes a goal, the first question is always of the goalkeeper,”. I mean, why this kind of question do even exist, when football involves eleven players on the pitch and not just goalkeeper alone?

Memang betul apa yang orang cakap pasal Bola sepak, “it’s a beautiful game”.

Then, I left my hometown for Selangor first to study and then to work. My childhood innocence was taken away from me with the ‘President FAM Sila Letak Jawatan’ commotion. I was not part of the pressure group but I was pretty upset with the Malaysian Football landscape back then. Now, I am happy that Malaysian football can look forward to a better future and I am now a season pass holder of FA Selangor.
